Its wedding season for us guitar player types. Yesterday I had one at a beautiful resort here in San Diego. I played the ceremony, cocktail hour, and the reception. I also…was…the..dj. I know, I know. I’ve gone over to the dark side. Is there any help for me? Have I no shame? I thought, hey who will know? There is no way any of my colleagues will find out. So of course I ran into one of them. Eric Foster, superb classical guitarist and teacher, just happened to be playing in the room right next door! So while I was blaring “September” by Earth, Wind, and Fire, he no doubt was exploring the sublte points of intepreting Bach. Oh the shame of it. “What’s the laptop for?” he asked. What should I say? Perhaps I could claim that I store my musical scores on it, and due to their length and difficulty, I have no choice but to bring my laptop. Yeah, that would work. But, then how would I explain the thirty people disco dancing to YMCA? Hmmm.
