New ITunes Release

I never thought of releasing the music that is now “Sketches & Impressions.” It was too personal, too much of myself to share. It is only several years after it was written that I am able to separate myself from it. The eleven little songs it contains range from intimate solo guitar to festive Irish inspired mandolin. In them I cry, I laugh, but most of all I love. Most of them were written for my wife as little gifts. They reflect the time we spent together leading up to our marriage. “Sketches” is a combination of her love of a lyrical melody, and the beauty of Irish music combined with my fondness for lush harmony, improvisation, and the writing of guitarist Michael Hedges.

Hey, Bill! I downloaded your album over the weekend and have listened to it a couple of times. Of course, I’m hardly qualified to give you musically knowledgeable commentary, but will say I liked it a lot! I can only offer a (very poor) simile of how the songs made me feel: the music was like a soft zephyr blowing in my ear (maybe an Irish breeze, now that I’ve read your liner notes?). Altogether delightful.

One question: Who’s on flute?

I just bought your Sketches album on iTunes. I heard about it from Godsbody. Just so you know, the “album” and “artist” tags on the album are reversed. That is once you buy the download from iTunes, it will show up in your Library under the artist column as “Sketches…” and under the album column under “William Wilson”.

Tom, Thanks to you too. I don’t know how, but iTunes mixed them up, and they switched the title around too. They list it as Impressions and Sketches, when it should be Sketches and Impressions. My label knows about it and is going to try to have them change it. Godsbody is great! It sure was nice of Matthew Lickona to give me a plug.
